Saw

A saw is a tool that uses a hard blade or wire with an abrasive edge to cut through softer materials.

There are different types of saws.

Crosscut
In woodworking, a cut made at (or near) a right angle to the direction of the grain of the workpiece. A crosscut saw is used to make this type of cut.

Rip cut
In woodworking, a cut made parallel to the direction of the grain of the workpiece. A rip saw is used to make this type of cut.

Plytooth
A circular saw blade with many small teeth designed for cutting plywood with minimal splintering.

Dado blade
A special type of circular saw blade used for making wide grooved cuts in wood so the edge of another piece of wood will fit into the groove to make a joint. Dado blades can make different width grooves by addition or removal of chipper blades of various widths between the outer dado blades. This first type is called a stacked dado blade. There is another type of dado blade capable of cutting variable width grooves. An adjustable dado utilizes a movable locking cam mechanism which causes the blade to wobble sideways more or less. This allows continuously variable groove width from the lower to upper design limits of the dado.

post abit about safety

Health and Safety in a workshop is very important. If a pupil/student uses equipment, tools and machinery, he/she should have received safety training. This should ensure that he/she feels confident in the use of machines and can operate them without having an accident or causing an accident to other people.

structures

bridges
Bridges are needed for a variety of reasons. Generally, they ‘bridge’ a gap between the banks of a river or they span the distance between two sides of a valley. They are made from materials including stone and steel. Bridges can carry people, cars, lorries, railways and even rivers.

tower
An art straw tower is a little more difficult to build compared to a model bridge. Towers can be all shapes and sizes but they must be designed carefully and drawn accurately. Basic tools such as a pair of scissors, sellotape, pencil, ruler, set squares, a T-sqaure, are required. With the bridge, a jig can be used to fold/bend the art straws accurately.

Mechanical toy(10)

Yo! So long no come update so today came =)

This is a scary looking toy isn't it? Is it suitable for kids?
Of course NO!

This shows a toy which his head is popped out, by don't know how. But if you were to give it to a baby, he or she will cry straight away. Kids saw this kind of toy would get frightened sometimes, some just throw it on the floor. Though the colours are attractive, due to the evil and scray face the toy shows, children will not like it.

Pencil case

This a white plastic kind of pencil case that mostly of boys that are age of 8-11 years old to use. It has the repeated design of monkey heads on it, that suits boys most, as girls do not really like monkeys.
Most primary school kids will then buy this kind of pencil case as you grow older, you do not want cartoons or pictures on your pencil case. If it is younger children, they would use a pencil case that is more of cartoons as they will think it is cute. Eg. is that, girls maybe like barbie dolls pictures on it, while boys like superman pictures on it, etc.

Keychains

Hi! Today I am introducing to you the 'donut keychains'.

This is a creative design that I think it is suitable for young girls. They have those eyes that make the donuts more realistic and cuter. With more colourful colours, they make them more attractive.

Young girls would normally hang them on their wallets or keys.

Digital camera

Hey, a week had passed and I'm back to post. Guess what?! DIGITAL CAMERA!
Why do we use digital camera? To take photos. We usually take photos when we go out as a family for some outings like picnics. But now, it is seldom for people to use digital cameras, though some are still using, as most of the people now take photos with their handphone, which has a technique of taking photos nowadays. But it is an useful object that had been invented.

MP3

Hi, back to post again. This time talking about MP3. MP3 and MP4 seem to be a very important object for teenagers and young adults now because going on streets, you can see many people taking it.

This is a MP3 created by 'CREATIVE'. As you know, it is an enlarged picture. The colours are bright and think most people do not really like bright red. I suggest that it can be just white.

It is great that someone in the world had created a small object that can stored a lot of songs and is easy to bring out. Songs make us relax so it is a very useful object.

Mechanical toy (2)

This toy is made of mostly wood and cardboard. It is liked by small kids for their cute design. I think that the toy should be made by wood, instead of cardboard. This is to prevent waste of materials as they are not strong enough. Small kids often spoil their toys so it is best to make the toy with durable and hard material. I also think that the gears below should be covered as to prevent kids from putting their fingers there while turning.

It is best that a toy can be water-proof so that when they made it dirty, adults would be able to help them clean it. This can help by keeping them germ-free.

Mechanical toy (1)

This is a toy mostly made up of wood. We can see that is has materials like rubber bands and metals.
It is quite dangerous because the rubber bands can break after a long period of time. Furthermore, it is not suitable for kids to play because they might hurt themselves with the rubber band by shooting each other. We can improve by using gears.
At the top of the toy is the blade thats looks like one on top of the helicopter that allows it to fly when control. But it is dangerous as the edge of it is sharp and long. We can improve by smoothen the edges.
Inside the toy we can see wires. It can be dangerous if kids play with them it can suddenly electricute them to death. A good suggestion is not showing the wires or anything dangerous outside, but to make it more real by using equipments like nails and hammer, and even more wood.
